My husband got us two puppies for Christmas!
When he told me we would be going to get them last weekend, I was so excited! It’s been years since we have been able to have any pets, and now that we own our home, we are able to have them again.
These two are wonderful additions to our family! ❤️🥰
They seem to have really great temperaments, and from what I’ve read about Saint Bernard dogs is that they are AMAZING family dogs. I was sold the minute I started researching them. My husband was sold on the idea as well when he looked at pictures and watched some videos of how good they are with babies. That factor is the main one that drove us to look for a Saint in the first place.
A woman in a homeschool group I’m involved in told me that her aunt’s Saint Bernard and Great Pyrenees just had puppies, and if I wanted one she would pass on her aunts information to me and my husband. I liked the idea of getting a puppy from somebody whose family dogs had a litter, who had been around these large dogs for many years and knew about the breed, who would be a reputable breeder. I also liked that her daughter spent a lot of time with the puppies since they were born, and they were very loved and well cared for from day one. This was huge because we have kids and it is important that we could get well adjusted puppies who are socialized and worked with and handled regularly. My husband was right in wanting to find a puppy that could grow up with our kids.
This has been the best decision ever, because they truly are amazing dogs!
I will be writing a post about myths of Saint Bernards as well, because there really are some things I read about elsewhere that turned out not to be an issue with ours. (Hint: They really don’t shed much, if at all.)
But, that is a post for another time. :)
